LESTER LOW 1N1

GREAT BRITAIN

Fish and Chips

Fish (cod, haddock, Huss, plaice) deep fried in flour batter with chips (fried potatoes) dressed in malt vinegar. This is England's traditional take-away food or as US would say "to go". Fish and chips are not normally home cooked but bought at a fish and chip shop ("chippie”) to eat on premises or as a "take away"

Bangers and Mash (mashed potatoes and sausages).

Bangers are sausages in England. (The reason sausages were nicknamed bangers is that during wartime rationing they were so filled with water they often exploded when they were fried)

BRAZIL

Brazil foods

Generally depend on nutritious food than apparently sumptuous dishes. They have specified choice for breakfast, lunch and dinners which do not vary a lot from the major North American dishes.

Feijoada is probably the most famous and traditional of all Brazilian main courses. It's a black bean stew with smoked meats that takes a full day to prepare, so it's meant to enjoy over the weekend with friends.
Not surprisingly there are also many delicious seafood dishes in
Brazil.

Vatapá is a delicious shrimp dish with a rich cashew peanut sauce.

Moqueca de peixe is a coconut fish stew that is easy to make and amazingly good.

Cururu de camarao is a shrimp and okra gumbo, which can be made with frozen shrimp for a quick weeMarian Blazes

JAPAN

Sushi is one of the most well-known Japanese foods. In Japanese cuisine, sushi indicates dishes that use sushi rice, which is seasoned with a sweet vinegar mixture. Various forms of sushi can be found in Japanese cuisine.

Traditional Japanese breakfast consists of steamed rice, miso soup, and side dishes.

THAILAND

"Thai food offers a variety of flavours and tastes. The subtle mixing of herbs and spices and market-fresh ingredients makes dining a special culinary experience."

Northeastern food reflects the influences of neighbouring Laos in a number of dishes. Glutinous rice is the staple, and the food is highly seasoned, like larb, made with spicy minced meat or chicken,. Som tam (green papaya salad), and kai yang (barbecued chicken). Meat was once scarce in villages, and freshwater fish and shrimp are the principle source of protein, sometimes fermented.

PHILIPPINES

Golden Palace is a Chinese restaurant located in Daet, Camarines Norte. Our house was just a few blocks away from it. I love to buy their special sotanghon which is absolutely very delicious cuisine. Sotanghon is now considered a Philippine main food since many Filipinos adapted it. I remembered my mother who cook her own version of sotanghon . I have learned how to cook it but since I am not an expert sometimes it would turn to be watery and bland.

Champorado is sweet chocolate rice porridge in Filipino cuisine. Champorado is made by boiling sticky rice and cocoa powder giving it a distinctly brown color. Champorado can be served hot or cold and with milk and sugar to taste. Champorado is served usually at breakfast. According to several history books, Jose Rizal was the first one who made and discovered champorado
